SmartThings: Samsung Account Setup and Management

A Samsung account is required to use the SmartThings app. This account is free and gives you access to all SmartThings features. Here is how to set one up and manage it.

Creating a Samsung Account

  1. Open the SmartThings app on your phone.
  2. Tap Create Account (or sign in if you already have one).
  3. Enter your email address, create a password (at least 8 characters with a number and letter), and fill in your name.
  4. Agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Verify your email address by clicking the link Samsung sends you.
  6. Sign in to the SmartThings app with your new credentials.

 

Account Security Tips

  • Use a strong, unique password that you do not use for other accounts
  • Enable two-step verification in your Samsung account settings for extra security
  • Keep your recovery email address up to date

 

What Your Samsung Account Controls

  • All SmartThings locations, rooms, devices, and automations
  • Access to the SmartThings app across multiple phones and tablets
  • Integration with Samsung services (Find My Mobile, Samsung Health, Galaxy Store)

 

⚠️ Important: Do not share your Samsung account password. Instead, invite family members as location members so they get their own access without needing your credentials. See Article 17.
